Classes and Workshops: March 16 - 18
Anton Mackey is an experienced Vinyasa Yoga teacher based out of Phoenix, Arizona. He came to yoga in search of stress relief, and what he found was the spiritual practice he had always been searching for. He is grateful that this passion for yoga has allowed him to travel around the globe teaching workshops and teacher trainings, presenting at festivals and leading retreats. His teaching method blends a deep understanding of the anatomical body with a variety of spiritual practices, giving students the space to make a deeper connection to the soul.
Anton's yoga classes are a challenging blend of power (masculine energy) and flow (feminine energy), infused with light-hearted spirituality. You will find mindful sequences and tricky transitions that move with the breath and music as well as detailed instruction on anatomical alignment. You can expect arm balances and inversions, hands on adjustments, and insightful pointers to apply to your practice.
Anton is a faculty teacher for several teacher training programs. He holds a degree in Kinesiology from Arizona State University, and continues to be a student of many different spiritual traditions.
The Calm Within
Friday, March 16th: 6:45 - 8:00
The goal of yoga is Moksha (freedom). When we are able to calm the fluctuations of mind we reach a state of oneness with the entire universe.
In this vinyasa practice we will combine Asana and Pranayama to create moving meditations that lead the body and mind into a state of calm and peace.
Bring harmony into mind, body, and soul as we unite the energies of the Divine Feminine Grace and Masculine Inner Strength.
Aligned and Alive
Saturday, March 17th: 9:30 - 11:00
To live our most authentic life we must first release all the drama and trauma from our body. This workshop will focus on opening up the Psoas and hip flexors the main muscles involved in fight or flight. We will work on aligning the spine to create greater stability and mobility in heart opening backbends. When energy flows freely through the main channel along the spine we move through resistance and blockages and become one with the natural rhythm and flow of the universe.
Lightness and Lift
Saturday, March 17th: 12:00 - 2:00
The body is merely the vessel that carries the spirit through the physical world. It is our soul's playground. In this playful workshop we will uplift the spirit, build confidence, and face fears as we create lightness and lift within arm balances, inversions, and transitions. Using bandha and core to learn to more gracefully float into and out of posture. We will focus on the anatomical principles of inversions. Students will learn proper alignment, body mechanics, leverage, strength and awareness in the jump-in, jump-back, press-up, handstand, and inversion & arm balance transitions.
Sunday, March 18th: 10:00 - 11:30
Working with the wisdom of multiple spiritual paths, this class calls in the four directions and their corresponding elements to create a sacred flow. As above, so below, as without, so within.
Expect to move with the breath through creative sequences to unite to the Divine of your heart and mind.
Space is limited. Pre-registration is required for all workshops and events. In the event of inclement weather, this series will be rescheduled and credit will be applied to rescheduled event. If unable to attend rescheduled event, credit will be given to use at Fusion Yoga.
